Review: Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin

Today I am going to be doing a review of the Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin. This was requested in my What's in My Travel Makeup Bag? post I did about two and a half weeks ago. I included this in my bag, and wore it almost every day. I was also toying around with my camera and the macro feature on it, and realized that I can do pretty accurate swatches and photos for you guys so my reviews can be a little more in depth. So, let's get into the review!

Who Is This Blush For? I don't think anyone with a dark skin tone can pull this one off. Light, fair, and medium skin tones are best suited for this blush. On olive and dark skin tones, I think it would look a bit chalky. Nonetheless, once my best friend comes over, I will definitely try it out on her and update you guys.

The Color: On fair, light, and medium skin tones, this blush doesn't exactly give off a shimmery, peachy color. I would describe it more as a true pink color. Swatched, it gives off a shimmery light light pink. However, on the cheeks, it looks more like a pink flush. The pigmentation is okay, like a 4/10.

The Consistency: A mousse is definitely a different way to apply blush. I have heard of liquid, cream, powder, pencils, and even gels. Though, mousse is one I have not heard. I was actually hesitant to try this blush because it was such a different form of blush. Though, it was in the 75% bin at CVS, and I wanted to expand my horizons (getting off topic...). When you rub the blush between your fingers, it sort of crumbles and forms little beads (not quite sure if that is a plus or minus).

How to Apply It: The only way I have applied this blush is to use my fingers, and dot the apples of my cheeks, and then blend it in. Although this is the only way I have applied it, you could use a small duo fibre stipple brush and tap the brush into the blush and then stipple it onto your cheeks. I know many people who use this blush with a small stippling brush. This is a way to not get your fingers as dirty when applying makeup!

Longevity: This is absolutely, definitely, hands down NOT a long wear blush. On its own, this blush will fade within four hours. To ensure longer wear, you could apply a powder blush over this mousse blush to set the blush. A blush you could use is NARS Orgasm ($27, Sephora) or E.L.F. Candid Coral ($3, Target).

To Sum It All Up: I think this is a very good blush. Those who are used to more pigmented blushes won't enjoy this blush, but I think for anyone starting out with makeup or is on a budget would find this blush suited to their needs. I would recommend this to a friend and will continue to use this blush.

Make Your Hair Less Oily, Thicker, and Healthy!

Sorry I haven't been posting in almost three days! Today I decided to blog about training your hair to go longer without washes.

Do you wash your hair everyday? If you answered, yes, time to change! If you answered no, you're on the right track! Many people often complain about how thin their hair is, and how it won't hold a curl or anything because it is so thin (Trust me, I was one of these people). 50% of the people who say this wash their hair everyday. Did you know that washing your hair everyday strips it of its natural oils to make your hair shiny, and ultimately results in thinner, flatter, more limp hair. Now, there is a way to train your hair to go longer between washes, and I'm going to tell you how to do it.

I am writing this post today because I figured it was time for a hair post, and because I am currently training my hair to go longer between washes. I stopped washing my hair everyday in about September of 2010. I went every other day for washing. It actually started to make my hair thicker, and more voluptuous! So, I decided that I would go a little longer between washes. I have chosen to go four days between washes. Now, I am not yet sure if this is too long for my hair. I am still testing it out. And, if all else fails, I can go three days in between, or two. This is honestly just a guess and check problem.

Now, how do you actually train your hair? First, decide the number of days you want to go between washes. I wouldn't start out with a full four. Try two days in between washes first. During this "training" process, DRY SHAMPOO WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND. (that will be your mantra for the training process: "DRY SHAMPOO IS MY LIFESAVER. DRY SHAMPOO IS MY BEST FRIEND." repeat this in your mind, as well as do as instructed, and your hair will be thick and healthier in no time ;] ) The day after you wash, your hair should look fine. It really shouldn't look oily and dirty. However, the second day, you will think your hair is oily and disgusting and you will run for your fruity smelling shampoo bottle. Stop right there, though! Takr your dry shampoo, and hold it up about 8-10 inches from your scalp. Spray lightly onto your hair, in the scalp area. (Read: If you have darker hair, you need to find a good invisible dry shampoo. Regular dry shampoos will make your hair look white and grey and not good! I recommend Oscar Blandi's Invisible Dry Shampoo ....a little pricey, but worth it! $23) Brush out your hair, evenly dispersing the dry shampoo throughout your hair. The dry shampoo will absorb any excess oil, and make your hair look fresh and renewed!

I would say that you should keep this process going for two to three weeks, and then your hair will start to get into a routine, and stop producing the excess oil that comes with second day hair.

I really hope I answered any questions you may have about training your hair. If you have any more, please feel more than free to leave them in the comments, and I will be sure to answer them! If you want to know how my little experience with training my hair is going, let me know in the comments, and I will do an update blog post.

Welcome to Beauty, Brains, What Else? !

Hi there! Welcome to my blog, Beauty, Brains, What Else?! I know it's sort of corny, the title I mean, but I think it is sort of fun and quirky. So right now it is 1:30 in the morning, and I cannot sleep! So, I ahve been thinking about doing this blog for a while. I was either going to do a blog or a Youtube channel, and I decided to do a blog. So, obviously, here I am. I am honestly going to try to keep this up as well as I can. Obviously, I have schoolwork and everything, so it might be hard. But, who knows? Let's see where this takes us.

Well, what was I planning to do on my blog? Well, obviously, from the title, I am interested in beauty. I am actually quite intelligent too (I think), but back to the main point. Beauty. Health.  Fashion. Makeup. Skincare. Everything about beauty and health is so fascinating and interesting to me, I just wanted to share a lot of my knowledge on the subject with you. I think I am going to be doing reviews of products, DIYs, tutorials(?), and just other things of that nature....so yeah.

So, I am absolutely, by no means a professional. Oh gosh: no. I am not. At all. So please, don't start with that!

I am going to put another post up directly after this post, not sure yet what about. But, nonetheless, since it will be my first "real" blog post (I don't really count this one haha), I have to make it good!

Bye bye!
